about

TWX-013 can be seen as the third installment in an unofficial series of Aberdeen-centric free digital debuts. Bones & Money's 'Close/Anxious' garnered immediate respect from Boiler Room & beyond, and Zubuntu's 'High Skool/Ruff Stuff' is still being referenced almost a year after its humble release, most recently by Dummy Magazine's comprehensive and thorough roundup of the current UK Dance underground goings-on.

T_A_M's sound has been hard to pin down from day one and, ever experimental, this release sees him putting aside the spacious and sombre beats for which he has a clear knack for - exploring instead a darker and more grimy landscape.

'Midgar' leads with stabbing, Chicago influenced chords before flowing freely into a grimy roller, stomping around with punchy 909 snare hits and tumbling percussive rhythms. 'Roze' begins as a more industrial affair before flipping its own script, with echoey FM synths and sparse drums leading up to an unpredictable horn-fuelled bounce.

Local artist Chris Mann once again provides striking hand-drawn release art.
